Celebrate football, fair play and your team: from 14 June to 14 July, the Straße des 17. Juni will become a gigantic playing field, a pop-up park and, of course, the perfect meeting place for all sports fans and football fans.

In addition to the grand opening concert on 12 June, the UEFA EURO 2024 Festival in front of the Brandenburger Tor will be a very special highlight. For four weeks, the metropolis' landmark will be transformed into the world's largest football goal. The perfect backdrop to roll out the green pitch for fans, Berliners and guests instead of the red carpet. Look forward to four weeks packed with unforgettable experiences.

When do the UEFA EURO 2024 matches start in Berlin?

The UEFA EURO 2024 starts on Friday, 14 June, with the match between Germany and Scotland in Munich and ends on 14 July with the final in Berlin. In the first match in Berlin, on 15 June, Spain and Croatia will face each other. UEFA EURO 2024 will conclude with the final match on 14 July in Olympiastadion Berlin.

Where will the UEFA EURO 2024 matches take place in Berlin?

All matches in Berlin will be held in the Olympiastadion Berlin, incidentally the oldest and most historic venue for this European Football Championship.

Where is there public viewing in Berlin?

  • Fan Zone Platz der Republik: From 14 June to 14 July, fans can meet, chat, play football and watch the broadcasts of all 51 matches on the lawn in front of the Reichstag.
  • Fan Zone Brandenburger Tor: There will also be public viewing on Platz des 18. März and Straße des 17. Juni. All matches taking place in Berlin, all matches of the German national team and all matches of the elimination round (from the quarter-finals onwards) will be broadcast here.
  • The Pride House Berlin in the Poststadion (Lehrter Straße 59, Moabit) will be open from 14 June to 14 July on all 51 match days and during the final week. In addition to the broadcast of all matches, there will be a colourful programme, variety shows and the exhibition fan.tastic females with the participation of local sports and/or queer clubs. A safe space for queer football fans. Opening on 14 June at 7 p.m.

How many seats are there in Olympiastadion Berlin?

There are 74,475 seats in the Olympiastadion, 38,020 of which are in the lower ring and 36,455 in the upper ring. 
Catering is available at 12 kiosks each in the lower ring and upper ring, as well as in mobile kiosks in the outdoor area.

How do I get to the Olympiastadion Berlin?

The Olympiastadion Berlin is located in the west of the city in the Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf district. You can easily reach the Olympiastadion by public transport. It is only a short walk from the railway stations to the entrances.

  • U2 to U-Bahn station Olympia-Stadion (Osttor entrance: 500 metres on foot, Südtor entrance: 870 metres on foot)
  • S3 and S8 to S-Bahn station Olympiastadion (Südtor entrance via Flatowallee exit: 200 metres, Osttor entrance via Trakehnern Allee exit: 250 metres)
  • Bus lines M49 and M218 to the Flatowallee stop 

How many fans are expected in Berlin for UEFA EURO 2024

Around 2.5 million football fans, including 1.9 million external visitors from around 120 countries, are expected in Berlin.

Where is the Fan Zone in Berlin?

Fan Zone Brandenburg Gate:

  • The official Fan Mile in Berlin is located in the Tiergarten district of Berlin and runs from the Brandenburg Gate via Straße des 17. Juni to Große Queerallee. This makes the Berlin Fan Mile the longest in the world. Fittingly, the Brandenburg Gate will become the largest football goal in the world and will also be used as a broadcast screen. Green grass will be rolled out in front of the gate for a pop-up park, which will offer many activities and events for football fans, guests and Berliners.
  • Location: Platz des 18. März (square in front of the Brandenburg Gate) & Straße des 17. Juni
  • Opening times: daily from 2 pm - midnight
  • Free admission

Fan Zone Platz der Republik

  • Location: Platz der Republik (Berlin-Tiergarten, government district, meadow in front of the Reichstag)
  • Opening times: 14 June to 14 July

Fan Meeting Points

  • There will also be Fan Meeting Points at Alexanderplatz and Breitscheidplatz.

Pride House

  • Queer football fans can meet at the Pride House, at Lehrter Straße 59, Moabit.

How far is it from the Olympiastadion Berlin to the Fan Zone Brandenburger Tor?

You need to plan around 45 minutes for the journey by public transport between the Fan Zone Brandenburger Tor and the Olympiastadion. The S-Bahn lines S3 and S9 as well as the U-Bahn line U2 will take you directly to the stadium.

Is the Olympiastadion Berlin barrier-free?

In principle, the Olympiastadion Berlin is barrier-free and also accessible for people with limited mobility. However, unrestricted mobility is not always possible within the blocks, as some areas are only accessible via stairs.
There are currently 170 spaces for wheelchair users in the walkway between the upper and lower tiers, and there are four accessible toilets on the same level.
For the UEFA EURO 2024, the Olympiastadion Berlin will be made even more accessible. New wheelchair spaces are to be created in almost all of the stands by the start of the games, with a total increase of 36 per cent. There will also be hundreds of new seats for people with physical disabilities. These are wider or have special padding, for example. 

For the blind and visually impaired, there are 50 seats in Block P with match commentary via headphones.

Fan Zones & Fan Meeting Points

For the UEFA EURO 2024, Berlin will roll out the green turf for fans and guests in front of the Brandenburg Gate. The Straße des 17. Juni will become the biggest Fan Zone in the world, a meeting point and playing field with public viewing and a colorful sports and cultural program. A second large Fan Zone Platz der Republik on the lawn in front of the Reichstag invites you to play soccer and join in the excitement. All 51 UEFA EURO 2024 matches will be broadcast live here! Further fan meeting points can be found at Alexanderplatz and Breitscheidplatz. And of course there will also be lots of great offers for fans around the venue, the Berlin Olympic Stadium. Final of the UEFA EURO 2024 in Berlin

It is the first time since reunification that Germany will be hosting Europe's biggest football tournament in 2024. This gives the UEFA EURO 2024 finals in Berlin on 14 July 2024 at 9 pm a special significance.  As the host country, Germany is automatically qualified and will thus take part in the finals for the 14th time in a row since 1972. The DFB team has already won the title three times, in 1972, 1980 and at the EURO 1996. Whether it will be successful again this time will be decided in the preliminary rounds, which will be held between the 24 finalists from 14 June onwards.

When will the UEFA EURO 2024 take place in Berlin?

Sport in Berlin

If you can't wait for UEFA EURO 2024, you can find numerous other sporting events on our pages, including some football matches. The Olympiastadion Berlin is also the home ground of Hertha BSC. Public training sessions of the Bundesliga football teams can be attended free of charge.

Berlin's Union also plays in the Bundesliga. The stadium at the Alte Försterei is known for the fact that fans can get particularly close to the action here. On 3 September 2022, for example, 1. FC Union will play against FC Bayern.
